Well, we are in the 'ember months and the stores are starting to fill with Christmas decorations (in Australia where Halloween is not so widely celebrated, there are small Halloween sections) so now it's a count down until the end of the year. After catching up in July, I had a blogging break for August (it was too busy!) and now it’s nearly the tail end of September so here's what we've been up to:
Tulip Time! (September)
As Winter comes to a close
(although you would have no idea it was Spring with the cold chill from last
week!), we love going to a few of the floral festivals. It ended up being a gorgeous day in Bowral
for Tulip Time. It was also Dogs Day Out
so that was a bit of fun seeing all the four-legged friends out (Sabi would not
of enjoyed the drive there so she missed out).
We finished the day with
pastries and a park play at Bradman Oval.
Interestingly, we saw this statue there, marking the “birth place” of
Mary Poppins.
Cherry Blossom Festival (August)
This Festival is an annual
thing for us. We love this hidden gem in
Auburn. It’s fast becoming a cosplay
haven (look out for next year!) which makes our picnic there even more enjoyable. Mr E and Miss E refused to take a photo with
any cosplayers all day until the very end… with Assassins Creed.
One of the schools
fundraisers is a Spring Fair with rides, games and food. It was the first one we have gone to (the
previous years in 2013 the weather was terrible) and we had a blast. We also took home 2 new fishy friends
(Eloise’s big win)
Winner, winner, chicken dinner! |
MissE won 2 goldfish - "Fatboy" and "Goldie McGoldie" (Eloise changes the name continually) |
One of these was my 'treat' |
MissE is on Term 3 school
holidays… and I didn’t post anything about Term 2 school holidays! Oops.
Year 1 is going so quickly! This
school holidays she did taekwondo camp and Master Di wore her out. I don’t think I’ve seen her that tired in a
long time! She also had 2 days helping
us in our offices; her cousins came to stay with us; a visit to Reptile Park and vacation care. Whew!
I’m tired. I have no idea how we
are going to manage the month of January holidays but we’ll have to!
Iron Tiger Grading
MissE is flying through her
belts even though we held her back a term.
She is on track to start 2016 as a purple belt.
MissE’s class hosted the
last assembly for the term. They filmed
a video to “Click Goes the Shears” and danced to “Cotton Eye Joe”.
Excursion: Day on the Farm!
I was luckily enough (or
unlucky as I was still nursing sore eyes?) to be a parent helper to the farm
for year 1… and ride the bus too! It was
a great farm day! The big surprise for
the day, we were in the animal nursery patting the goats and sheep when we
heard loud bleating. Low and behold a
goat had given birth!
I have to say though, within
15 minutes on the bus I had a headache!
Not sure how you teachers do it!

Manly Beach in Winter (no one told Eloise!) |
When it got too cold, we headed to Manly SEA LIFE Sanctuary |

MrE
Says the Darnedest Things
It’s MrE that has us in stitches these
days. He is starting to challenge MissE
a bit during conversations. The results are hilarious:
We were in the car, listening to the
radio. They were talking about how
someone is a “Drama Queen”.
MissE: Hey, I’m a Drama Queen
sometimes! I like Drama and I want to be
a Queen!
MrE: (Quietly) You are a FART QUEEN!
One of our favourite things to do on a
free weekend is go on a day-trip and explore parts of NSW within 90 minutes of
us.
Day
Trip #1: En-route to Scarborough Hotel
MrE: “DADDY! I want to go to the beach, beach. I want to catch a wave, wave”.
If you didn’t catch that reference,
it’s a lyric from Starships – Nicki Minaj
Day
Trip #2: En-route to Bowral
MrE: Daddy, are we almost there? You are wasting my time.
Until
next time… my favourite month is coming up!
October = Halloween
